Product Overview
The Power relay is a switch which uses an electromagnetic coil in order to close or open a circuit. It also contains an armature, a spring and one or several contacts. If the power relay is designed to be normally opened, when the power is applied, then the electromagnet attracts the armature, which is then pulled in the coil’s direction until it reaches a contact, therefore closing the circuit. If the relay is designed to be normally closed, the electromagnetic coil pulls the armature away from the contact, therefore opening the circuit. It is operated using a low amount of voltage but it also conduct a higher amount of voltage. These relays come in different configurations, and one of them is SPST (Single Pole Single Throw). The SPST power relay has only one isolated circuit that the relay is pass through the switch and only one close contact position per pole that is available on the power switch. The GE product is an innovation and a technology which fits well into versatile customer needs.
