Product Overview

The Silhouette - VR Fuse 61NM 5A 250V is a cartridge fuse with a glass tube and silver-plated caps on both ends. This series fuse features wide amp/volt ratings which allows the versatility of protecting a wide range of electronic circuits. A glass fuse works by breaking the circuit when a high rated current pass through it. When the current passing through the fuse exceeds the rated current, the thin wire melts and breaks the circuit. It is the cheapest form of protection, and it does not need any maintenance. Its operation is completely automatic and requires less time compared to circuit breakers. The smaller the size of the fuse element, imposes a current limiting effect under short-circuit conditions. Fuses are always connected in series with the components to be protected from overcurrent, so that when the fuse blows it will protect the entire circuit and stop current through the components.
